Creator of the internet phenomenon, Sirenhead, Trevor Henderson's fiction debut is set to be the next generation's Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark. Known for his terrifying creature creations and the hit horror podcast, Mayfair Watcher’s Society, Scarewaves is Henderson’s first fiction debut and first work specifically catered to kids. The first installment is set in Beacon Point, a fictional town where the frightening and unusual is a daily occurrence and resident youth must contend with horrors beyond imagination. A series of vignettes with each chapter ties together an overarching tale of terror. Alan Graves broadcasts supposedly true tales of horror from the radio tower on top of the town's namesake point, striking unease into the hearts of an already on-edge populous, popping in now and then on ‘crinkled’ pages. Henderson’s artworks are scattered throughout, breathing life into the creatures on the page.
Unfortunately, most of the adults in Beacon Point have accepted that this is just the way things are - kids go missing sometimes and monsters lurk in the dark. The resident kids, however, aren't willing to go down without a fight.
Beginning with a young newcomer to Beacon Point, Mary, we revolve around those in her life and those in the town, unraveling the horrifying mystery. A disappearing scarecrow, a cloaked figure etching burned warnings in the buildings, mutant deer and much more haunt the pages of Scarewaves. Will Mary and her friends survive?
